1967 Shelby GT-500 Convertible Recreation




You are bidding on a 1967 Shelby GT-500 Convertible Recreation. This car has been restored top to bottom, front to back using both reproduction and NOS Ford parts. The goal of this project was to make a car that could be driven reliably everyday, and still possess the look of what a 1967 Shelby Convertible could have looked like. Some highlights of this beautiful car include brand new brushed aluminum dash with factory 6K tachometer, 351W with 5-Speed transmission and much more. Each section below concentrates on an area of the car and includes picture. The pictures on this page are thumbnails and can be clicked to see the larger image. Body and Exterior

This car has had a fresh paint job. The color is factory "Nightmist Blue" with white Shelby stripes and suits the car nicely. All new moldings include correct Shelby GT 500 insignias, front and rear bumpers, outside door handles Shelby headlight trim rings, Shelby front grille assembly, Shelby hood pin kit, and Shelby polished taillight trim. The white GT-500 stripe was applied and the appropriate 1967 Shelby GT-500 emblems were installed. New door handles and lock set were installed after paint along with back up light housings and a custom billet Shelby GT-500 gas cap. The front end is original Shelby and has the correct front hood latch bracket assembly NOS. A new antenna and good remote mirror were also installed. The overall appearance of this car is stunning, as can be seen in the pictures. I included several exterior shots to show all angles of the car and it's features with the top up and down. Engine and Chassis

This car is powered by a strong running 351W engine, a World Class T-5 5-Speed Transmission, and a 9" Traction-Lock rearend. The engine runs great and makes good power. The engine has a high performance camshaft and Edelbrock 4V intake manifold. The 5-Speed transmission conversion is nice and allows this Shelby to have an overdrive gear, making freeway or distance driving a breeze. The 9" rearend has been rebuilt and a set of 3.25 gears and Ford Traction Lock unit have been installed. All Powertrain components are in great shape, this car is definately reliable and could be driven daily. Front disc brakes were added to increase the stopping power of this beast and a 1 1/8” front sway bar was installed to help stabilize the front end. The front end was rebuilt including new upper control arms, lower control arms, front coil springs, spring perches, and coil spring insulators. This car has new front and rear shocks and rear leaf springs. The car sits on a set of four 17x7" American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels.

Interior

The interior of this car is fabulous. It has been done in factory deluxe Parchment interior complete with hardback seats and deluxe seat buttons. A Shelby roll bar was installed with factory Shelby interior quarter panels and quarter window extensions for authenticity. The dash is a new-brushed aluminum with 6K Tachometer and Shelby emblem on the passenger side. Speaker kick panels were installed with 5 ¼” speakers for excellent sound quality. A reproduction Shelby under-dash gauge pod was also installed under the radio. The T-5 shifter is a new hurst competition with white ball to match the light interior.
